Mio is fun, playful, and surprisingly advanced from a technical point of view. We’ve put a lot of love into creating Mio. Nuria came up with the original idea, and the rest of the team brought her to life with personality, animations, and plenty of care.
Very soon we’ll release the biggest update we’ve ever made. This release is much more than a collection of new features: it’s also the beginning of a new identity. Desktop Mode is becoming OpenStation.
Why OpenStation? Because it represents much more than a desktop interface. It’s an open workspace where WordPress becomes a complete environment for creating, managing, and building things, just like a real workstation, but powered by the web.
Right now, Mio is purely cosmetic. Mio uses real-time soft body physics, making Mio feel alive as Mio moves around your workspace.
Of course, Mio is completely optional. You can disable Mio or never see Mio at all. We believe software should be both productive and enjoyable, with customization extending beyond workflows and into the entire experience.
And this is only the beginning.
Mio will continue to evolve and will eventually interact with you in ways that simply weren’t possible before. Modern web technologies let us rethink what a web application can be, and sometimes, they make ideas that once felt impossible become reality in the blink of an eye.
